Course Description

Program management is the application of project management techniques through the implementation of a program management office (PMO) with the goal of creating a mature and stable unit with clear plans for growth and improving the organisation's performance. Those organisations that have successfully established a PMO are currently learning to utilise the PMO in leading organisational changes, promoting a project management culture, and institutionalising organisational processes and methodologies for improving the organisation's performance.

The Graduate Certificate of Program/Project Management  qualification will provide the critical knowledge and skills required by those aspiring to middle management and/or executive roles that require a broader organisation-wide management focus on project and program management. This qualification, delivered by Logikal Trainig International, positions the PMO as a crucial functional unit within an organisation and the manager of the PMO as a person who performs at a senior role within an organisation.

The Graduate Certificate in Project and Program Management differs from other higher education graduate qualifications at the same AQF level in that:  It is more focused on industry outcomes with less emphasis on an academic discipline; It offers a short-cycle Vocational and Technical Education (VTE) sector graduate pathway alternative, and: It offers a VTE sector pathway from the Bachelor Degree for specialist industry or enterprise competencies.

It is well-suited to experienced project and program managers and/or senior managers who need to develop the knowledge and skills to establish and manage a program management office (PMO).

Learners entering this program must have demonstrated one of the following prior to commencing the program:

  • a relevant Advanced Diploma or Diploma (e.g. BSB60707 Advanced Diploma of Project Management or BSB51407 Diploma of Project Management)
  • relevant extensive vocational experience (e.g. in project management) without formal qualifications
  • higher education qualification (e.g. Bachelor Degree), with relevant vocational experience.

On completion of this qualification, it is expected that learners will be equipped with the vocational skills that are essential for appointment to a range of senior management positions in an organisation, such as Program Management Office (PMO) manager, or Program Director. Such managers require a high level of business acumen across a broad range of marketing, strategic management, human resources, change management and financial skills as well as a good understanding of a range of functional roles in an organisation and specific skills in the application of broad project management principles.
